Service Manager

About the role

As the Service Manager you’ll be responsible for providing first class service and front line technical support to our customers with a special focus on our Fleet Users. You’ll be liaising with Service Agents/Dealers and Internal staff on diagnosing faults, managing maintenance services and compiling weekly reports on fleet uptimes. You’ll be the main point of contact for our Key Fleet contacts and after sales support for our Dealers.  The role will include some hands-on technical work, but you’ll be supported by a Mechanical Technician and Technical Manager.

This is a new role in a small but growing team. There will be flexibility to grow and make this role your own.

Skills Required

  • Key account management (preferred)

Mobile Service Technician

About the role

As the UBCO Mobile Service Technician, you’ll be responsible for providing first class service and technical support to our customers in the Auckland region. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be carrying out routine maintenance service and repairs, and well as trouble shooting and diagnosing faults. There will be a key focus on servicing our Fleet customers in the Auckland CBD. You’ll be supported by a Service Manager, Technical Manager, and wider team that are based in Mt Maunganui.

This is a new role in a small but growing team. There will be flexibility to grow and make this role your own, including scope to assist with sales and events and providing demo rides to interested customers.

Currently required on a part-time basis, there is flexibility in hours and room to increase as the customer base does.

Ideally, you’ll have your own vehicle, with tow bar, but tools required to carry out work will be provided.

Skills Required

  • Full drivers’ license
  • Customer Service experience (preferred)
  • Mechanical trade experience (essential)
  • Electrical and Technical diagnosing (essential)

Management Accountant

About the role

As the Management Accountant, you will be the lead accounting professional responsible for GAAP compliant accounting and reporting for the NZ parent and an expanding group of international subsidiaries.

You will report to the Group Financial Controller and will have support from the Accounting and Payroll Manager.

This is a new role to cater for our rapidly growing group of companies, and will be very busy focused on establishing GAAP compliant accounting processes, reports and consolidations across the group. You will also play a lead role in our annual audits.

Test Engineer, Hardware

About the role

The HW Test Engineer position touches every aspect of how we test our hardware, from engineering reliability and validation during development, to PCBA tests at suppliers to sub-system tests and calibrations on the production line. You will help plan, build and deploy a complete suite of tests for each product to ensure that our customers only get the best product possible.

  • Creating test plans, designing, and building functional testers for both sub-assemblies and PCBAs.
  • Partnering with other disciplines at UBCO, including Production, FW, SW, EE and ME to ensure our production test coverage delivers the best product experience possible.
  • Building and documenting a cohesive test architecture across all parts of a production line.
  • Traveling to and working with our manufacturers around the world to support production at volume.

You need these core qualifications:

  • You have 5+ years of industry experience.
  • You are comfortable owning electromechanical test automation and have brought tester designs from concept through production at scale.
  • You have experience designing test fixtures for a mass-production environment.
  • You are proficient in an ECAD package, such as Altium Designer, for generating custom printed circuit board designs, or reviewing product designs for test coverage.
  • You have worked with 3rd party testing laboratories.
  • You routinely scope and estimate complex technical projects, then fully execute the plan.

It would be nice if you:

  • Have a degree level qualification in Electronics Engineering
  • Have excelled and thrived at a startup or rapidly growing company.
  • Have developed using embedded system languages including C/Assembly and scripting languages such as Python.
  • Have worked directly with overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Have solid modelling experience and can integrate mechanical constraints into your designs.
  • Enjoy riding bikes and getting outdoors on the regular.
  • You are familiar with Docker and containerized deployments of applications.
  • You have made something using a web API or micro service systems.

Power Electronics Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Power Electronics Engineer to work in our company with Electronics research and development of power electronics sub-assemblies including hardware and firmware. You’ll take ownership of design across all aspects of the product lifecycle, including EMC, DFM, DFT. Plus, look after technical support and training of other UBCO staff.

Here’s what you’ll be doing…

  • Working within a team of diverse disciplines to develop unique electronic vehicle platforms for use by consumers and enterprises.
  • Developing and enhancing electronic solutions for complex vehicle systems and transitioning them into fully matured designs for production at scale.
  • Authoring documents such as design release packages, engineering requirements, and test plans for the commercialisation of designs.
  • Helping diagnose existing designs for root cause issues and providing engineering advice and support across the company.
  • Continuously improving our engineering tools and procedures as we scale our organisation.
  • Mentoring other engineers and technicians and educating the wider team.

You need these qualifications…

  • At least 5 years proven industry experience, ideally following a degree level qualification in Electronics Engineering, with a focus on power electronics design.
  • A high level of proficiency in an ECAD package, such as Altium Designer, with experience across schematic capture, circuit simulation, and multi-layer PCB layout.
  • Solid understanding of Design for Test and Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience applying HALT and HASS as an essential part of the development and production life cycle.
  • Track record of executing and supporting full life cycle designs that comprise multi-signal and high power systems.

It would be nice if you…

  • Have detailed design knowledge of electric vehicle systems and/or consumer electronics.
  • Have excelled and thrived at a startup or rapidly growing company.
  • Have developed using embedded system languages including C/Assembly and scripting languages such as Python.
  • Have worked directly with overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Have brought designs through EMI/EMC safety and other compliance testing protocols.
  • Have solid modelling experience and can integrate mechanical constraints into your designs.
  • Be able to deliver complex information in a group environment in a way that is easy for less technical staff to understand.
  • Enjoy riding bikes.
